Tiki culture is regarded as an
American kitsch owing to the fact that it’s an amalgamation of the true
Polynesian culture that has been tweaked to cater to American culture. This hybrid
is widely known as the Tiki culture and it has no doubt been a huge effect on the
general populace. Tiki is one of the most easily recognisable cultural phenomenons
and can be found all over the world, especially near coastal areas.
Polynesian culture is found in
Pacific islands and most importantly in Hawaii islands that are to the west of
North America. Like the Western coast, the eastern coast is has not remained
untouched by the Tiki wave and it is most commonly seen in the semi-tropical areas
near Florida.
Whenever a person is said to
imagine a beach paradise then the visions are almost surprisingly similar. A
beach paradise will have smooth, white sands, blue turquoise waters, and most
importantly a hut made of thatch or leaves and supported by bamboo or wood and
plenty of amazing drinks to try out.
This image is the perfect
depiction of a Tiki bar or a Tiki hut even though people might not recognise
its name or pedigree. This shows that Tiki culture is almost everywhere and easily
recognisable subconsciously by people.
These days people are no
longer opting to go to a Tiki bar or restaurant, instead they are building
their own private huts in their backyards. These huts are a useful addition to the
home too. Not only do they give a tropical look to your home but also give you
a unique place to entertain your friends and family.
Building a Tiki hut and Tiki
bar is no tough job but still you will need an expert hand. You can easily find
several Tiki hut builders in and around Florida as the Tiki boom is currently
underway there. People have included these huts and other such makeshift buildings
in their home landscaping projects too to ensure a tropical look. Simply add
some palm trees to your backyard and your home would be a tropical place away
from the tropics.
